Engagement

After spending an entire day in lab, I couldn't wait to get home. Not because I knew what was waiting for me, but because I had spent 45 minutes on the shoulder of Turnpike trying to kill a spider. Two phone calls and one FaceTime later, I managed to "save my own life" (this is what happens when you kill a spider in my presence). Little to my knowledge Brandon would be snapping pictures of my less than pleasant faces as I cried out how big he was. Anyway, I finally arrived at Brandon's house. A mess I might add, as I had just spent 12 hours in lab, and approximately 2 hours crying my eyes out over a spider. Exhausted, and only 4pm, I just wanted to lay down. Mama Wagner was just leaving to o pick up Chipotle, and Brandon had a surprise in his room he wanted to show me. Not getting your hopes up, the surprise was not the proposal. He wanted to show me his bed he had made, PERFECTLY! For those of you who know Brandon, this takes quite a long time. So after showing my excitement and approval i laid down on the floor. Brandon not satisfied, he asked that I get up on the bed. Against my dismay, I did. I guess not his intention, I laid down. He asked for me to sit up and I gave him my typical whine "why". He said, "please just sit up". As he helps me sit up and pulls me towards the end of of the bed, he grabs my hand and quickly drops to his knee. "Danielle Diane Mohl, will you marry me?", he asked! To my disbelief it was actually happening. Brandon Joseph Wagner was asking me to be his actual wife. Now this might sound weird, but this is only because 5 and a half years ago, he did the same exact thing, except that time it was just a birthday ring and Sassy wasn't nudging my foot with her head when he did it. So back to now, as he asked, I started crying, saw that he was holding something in between his fingers and I lost it. Throwing my arms around his neck and trying my hardest to say yes, the closest thing that came out of my mouth was "---". Eventually, I was able to make out a yes. Mind you, all the while, tears (and snot) where everywhere. He responded with, "you haven't even seen the ring yet." Of course, at this time, I sat up and said, "I don't need to see it!" But of course, I then watched as he delicately slid that sparkling piece of perfection on my finger. To my right, he placed an orange notebook. Inside, a detailed story awaited me of his journey through the setting up of the engagement. As we both sat there in excitement, he quickly summarized the contents inside. Eager to know the full details, he explained that 4 hours prior to this he paid my dad a visit. Walking up with the ring, Brandon didn't even have to ask before my dad said, "Yes". The conversation as I picture it was like any other conversation they have. At one point, Dad asked him when he was planning on doing it, and Brandon went into elaborate detail that he was planning for this weekend on Saturday or Sunday. Little did he know, that Brandon has a hard time keeping things as planned when he is excited. For instance, if my birthday gift would arrive early, I would have to open it the day it arrived, not wait until my actual birthday. Anyway, the day went on, family members and friends were informed. With little time to ourselves, after getting in touch with everyone, we were finally able to relax and celebrate. So close to midnight, we opened the freezer, prepared our ice cream and sat on the couch enjoying the last few minutes of our day with one another.
